Celebrated German Marches
Hohenfriedberger Marsch & others
year: ?

SONY DSC

I was searching the internet trying to find the date of issue of this LP and I was finding a whole host of German marching music released in the US in the late 50s to the mid 60s.
Was this the Rock & Roll before Rock & Roll?
Why was there so much German marching music released in the US in the few decades after Germany’s defeat in World War Two?
I’m not sure if I picked this album up here in Canada or in Europe but given that this is a US album I’m assuming I got it here – for some reason.
The list of marches, the composers and performing group are on the record itself because the cover has brief history of German marches printed out.
The music is fairly standard German marching music with a male chorus. The recording is technically very good you can hear all the different instruments clearly.
This is joyous music in a German military fashion – You shall sing now! You shall enjoy it!
